Upcoming episode of "No Reservations" with Anthony Bourdain

Some of you are probably familiar with Anthony Bourdain's Travel Channel show "No Reservations" It has won an Emmy or two and is always good fun. Well, in my casual internet surfing, ok I accidentally happened upon it, I found a very recent blog from Anthony about his recent filming in Liberia for an upcoming show. Click here to read the blog post. Read all the way to the end for an exciting surprise. The "Dave" he talks about at the end is David Waines of the Waines' family. They are the folks that head up Equip Liberia's work! How cool is that?

Also, I am pretty sure that his account of Liberia will deter any of you from visiting us while we are there! Lets just say it didn't make his list of top 10 destinations in the world. I will let everyone know when I hear the air date. Should be interesting for us all!

Peace friends,
Jessica (and Kyle)

  1. WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! Just read his blog post. Speechless!

  2. I met Anthony Bourdain about a month ago at the RLJ Kendaja Hotel he was staying at in Monrovia, Liberia. had a brief conversation with him; he seemed to have been tired and perhaps suffering from mild heat stroke. He was completely out of his element..not the usual happy go lucky Bourdain we see on his hit show, No Reservations on the Travel Channel. He's right about the heat. I'm originally from Liberia and was vacationing at the time, but the oppressive dry heat I experienced, I just couldn't get used to. It's something you'll have to prepare for.
Heat aside, the country is beautiful..just get out of Monrovia and into the country side and it's a jungle paradise.

    Good luck Jessica and Kyle.

  3. I also met bourdain at the same hotel and he seemed to be the same way to me. i asked him whata he has eaten so far and what he thought about the country and he told me that it had been the most bizzare confusing country he had ever been to. I've been in Liberia for 4 months and have 2 more months to go here. I love it the people are friendly and engaging and the local food is awesome.

  4. I am looking forward to meeting the famous 'Kyle and Jessica Hoovers' soon for a taste of Asheville cuisine. Thanks be to God for people like them!
